Guardian Recovery - Montville Adolescent Center

My experience with this program was extremely concerning. From the first day my daughter was admitted, she was very angry and struggling emotionally. Instead of receiving the support she needed, her counselor (Nina) often appeared manipulative and seemed to reinforce my daughter’s lack of accountability rather than helping her take responsibility and work through her behavior. The most alarming issue was the lack of supervision. My daughter had made multiple comments about wanting to run away, yet she was still able to leave the facility with another adolescent. A program responsible for minors should have safeguards in place to prevent situations like this. When this incident occurred, I expected immediate communication and transparency from the administration. However, not a single administrator contacted me to explain what happened. The only call I received was from a nurse who was unable to answer my questions or provide any clear explanation. I am also concerned about how long it took for authorities to respond after the incident was reported. Overall, the lack of supervision, communication, and accountability from leadership was extremely troubling. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise parents to carefully consider other options before placing their child in this program.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Guardian Recovery for everything they did for my son and our family. From the moment he entered the program, the care, professionalism, and compassion shown by the staff were truly exceptional. I especially want to thank Robert, the family therapist, along with Leni and Catherine. They were all incredible — not only with my son, but also with me as a parent. My son went there seeking help, and he truly received it. He is healed, set free, and in recoverd. Thank the Lord. I am forever grateful. Guardian Recovery emphasizes structure, discipline, and accountability in the best way possible. The kids wake up on their own, make their beds, take their medications responsibly, attend the gym in the mornings, and earn points for completing chores and following the program. This structure made a huge difference for my son. Before treatment, he resisted taking medication. Now, he comes to me and says, “Ma, give me the meds.” That alone speaks volumes. My son genuinely enjoyed his experience. He learned a lot, feels good about himself, and left the program feeling happy and content. He said the facility feels more like a hotel than a hospital — very clean, comfortable, and homey. He loved the food too! They offered meals teenagers actually enjoy, like Jersey Mike’s, pizza, and Chinese food. He also really liked the group therapy sessions and found them helpful. As a parent, I felt very supported. The staff was attentive and kept in contact with me. Robert was truly a blessing — an angel sent from heaven. We had family therapy sessions every Wednesday morning, and evening group sessions with other parents, which were incredibly helpful and reassuring, especially during the holidays. Another huge plus was academics. My son is a senior, and Guardian Recovery made sure to coordinate with his school counselor so he could continue his schoolwork. That gave me so much peace of mind. The program can last up to six weeks. I chose to take my son home earlier due to Christmas and personal goals, but even in that shorter time, the impact was life-changing. Honestly, I did not find any negatives. If I had to suggest anything, it would be more frequent daily updates — but even then, the communication we did have was excellent. I truly hope I never have to use these services again, but if I ever do, Guardian Recovery would be my top choice. I highly recommend this program to any parent looking for a safe, structured, and caring place for their child to heal and recover. Thank you, Guardian Recovery. 10 out of 10.

I can’t say enough positive things about about Montville Adolescent Treatment Center. My child was treated there twice and both times we were very pleased with their care. There was great communication on all levels from nursing staff and counselors too. The facility is comfortable and clean and tends to all a clients needs so that they may focus on the task of getting well. The program is well designed with the focus on not only therapy, but also education, exercise, and healthy eating. Additionally, fun rewarding activities are planned each week. What really stands out the most however, is that a year later, counselors still reach out to our family to check in. Their support, caring and commitment goes beyond the walls of Guardian.

I want to express my deepest gratitude 🙏 to the entire team at this rehab center for the outstanding care they have provided to my son. Our daughter had a very positive experience at Montville. The facility was spotless, all the staff that we encountered (nurses, intake, case management, security) were friendly, knowledgeable, communicative and caring, and the therapists were great (Bob and Gabby). We were kept informed of her progress and any changes with medications. The schedule/structure was very helpful, as were the activities and group therapy, and necessary to facilitate the beginning of her recovery process. Not that anyone wants their child to end up in a place like this but if you have to choose a residential rehab/mental health treatment center we recommend Guardian Recovery - Montville Adolescent Center.
