I have worked with William Hallick of Aceland Mortgage in the past, and before we started this refinance transaction in Puerto Rico, he warned me that we did not know what we were up against. That we were about to walk into a different territory as far as the process of the mortgage goes. Well, he was not kidding. I myself have been involved in real estate for 13 years, and I have never experienced such a chaotic mortgage process. Nothing to do with Aceland, thank God for them, because without Aceland this transaction would have never happened. The process to buy or refinance in Puerto Rico is not worth for the faint of heart. Apart from things take three times as long, and double as expensive, the inefficiencies and with the people involved are unbelievable. After wanting to rip the hair out of my head for 5 months, thanks to Bill and his team, we were able to finally do a cash out refi and get my money out of the property. If you are looking to buy or refinance in Puerto Rico, just know that you never know what you're up against. It will take longer, it will be more expensive, but if you're working with Bill, it will get done.
